NOTE: This is a testimonial from a client, Alex M., who worked with Tame Pain and provided permission to share.
I would like to take a moment to put into writing how amazing my experience has been with working with Doctor Michael Ray and the Tame Pain team.
I have been practicing as a physical therapist for almost 8 years, but in spite of my background and overall good health I ended up with some very serious chronic pain issues dating as far back as about 7 years ago. I honestly began to have a laundry list of issues over that time including: left and right gluteal pain, right sided sciatica, right shoulder pain, right and left knee pain, right and left elbow pain with numbness and tingling in my fingers, and just for fun I developed tinnitus in both ears. Oh, I don’t want to forget my “hip impingement” issues on the left and right either. Those issues didn’t all happen at once, but developed over time.
Again, as a physical therapist and avid athlete I was sure I could fix it myself. Honestly, given that I’m a health care provider I was also ashamed to ask for help, embarrassed that I was struggling. Ultimately, that shame and stubbornness (as well as my own confidence in myself) led me to deal with it for about 5 years on my own before finally seeking medical attention. I was losing the battle and becoming less physically active which was leading to some serious depression also.
Maybe a little over a year ago I was again searching for answers and solutions, determined to not give up, and I came across a podcast that Michael Ray was hosting about chronic pain. He and his colleagues seemed to really know their stuff and I had a feeling it would be a good fit.
Again, I was a little hesitant to make official contact and seek help; I mean how could I spend money on rehab when I’m supposed to be a rehab specialist? I told myself it was truly an investment in my health and I reached out to Michael.
Dear lord am I glad I did. I thought I would work with him for a few months and go on my own; but the progress was so significant, and the process was so much fun I’ve stuck with him and his team for over a year now; not just treating pain but trying to learn principles of weight training while seeking guidance and advice on how I can become a better physical therapist.
Working with Michael I immediately felt confident about my decision as he is compassionate, knowledgeable, and driven. He takes joy and pleasure in your success. All the fear and hell I’d been going through alone, all the insurmountable issues; well, he helped me start to break it down into manageable pieces. I could see he had a plan from the start, and he was there with me walking through my struggles and doubts every step of the way.
After this last year, I am in an amazing place compared to where I was, and I feel empowered and confident with moving forward and returning to the sports and activities I love. I have recommended him to friends, and even family (including my own mother, and if that doesn’t tell you how much faith I have in Tame Pain, I don’t know what will).
I also intend to return to work with Michael in the future, as I know there is even more I can learn from him and his team. But for now, I feel whole again, stronger, and I’m going to get back on the path alone. That said, I know if I need help again I’ve found someone who I trust implicitly and can rely on!
God bless you Michael, and thank you for everything you have done for me!
